@spangerlookrey del filmmaker basato a NY Spencer Lackey è un invito a scendere nel mondo perturbante dello spazio domestico. La paranoia dell’abietto, che confonde i confini tra umano e non umano, è l’innesco di un lunghissimo creepypasta di quasi 700 post. Il racconto horror in prima persona è dispiegato nei luoghi del quotidiano; spiamo Spencer in cucina mentre mangia, in salotto mentre lavora al pc, in camera da letto mentre si sta svegliando, in bagno mentre si guarda allo specchio.
Lo seguiamo col fiato sospeso negli armadi, sotto il letto, in cantina, guidatɜ da immagini lo-fi, jump scares, close-up disturbanti, dentro un’estetica che lo inserisce tra il film “amatoriale” alla The Blair Witch Project (1999) e lo psychological horror game P.T. (2014), teaser di Silent Hill. È negli anfratti piccoli, bui, nelle fessure, negli spiragli, nei meandri più nascosti dello spazio intimo che le paure si materializzano. La casa è un posto strano abitato da presenze familiari e inquietanti. Nella solitudine del proprio appartamento, il confine che ci separa dall’esterno si disintegra, liberando ciò che ci disgusta e allo stesso tempo ci attrae.
Una nuova manifestazione digitale di Slender: due occhi e una bocca oltre misura, un corpo snello, alto, due braccia lunghe oltre le ginocchia e una moltitudine di parrucche spostano il personaggio nato nel web dalle connotazioni di genere. Lo spostamento verso il femminile perturba ancora di più, scioglie i confini, spaventa e incanta.
Con la mostra Peekaboo Spazio Punch accoglie la pratica artistica di Spencer Lackey, spingendo il racconto horror fuori dal digitale. Gli ambienti dell’Ex Birrificio acquistano una connotazione domestica, intima e disturbante; tra comuni oggetti di arredo gli immaginari, gli umori, le proiezioni inquietanti di @spangerlookrey tornano alla terza dimensione all’interno di un’installazione multimediale che infesta anche il nostro quotidiano.
Peekaboo è anche una risposta al desiderio di sondare i margini della curatela, un gesto che oltrepassa la semplice presentazione di opere per posizionarsi al confine tra pratica artistica e pratica curatoriale. La mostra diventa così uno spazio di co-creazione e la curatela una pratica “disturbante”, un dispositivo per creare squilibri, uno strumento di attivazione di nuovi immaginari e nuove presenze.

In dialogo con la mostra a Spazio Punch, Bookzilla ospita una selezione di materiali editoriali ero-guru e di fetish art tratta da Undusted Archive di Caterina Dal Bianco e Christian Gravante. Too Negative, Apocalypse Culture, S&M Sniper, Tox sono alcune delle porte di accesso all’immaginario di Undusted Archive.

@spangerlookrey, the project of NYC-based filmmaker Spencer Lackey, is an invitation to descend into the eerie, unsettling realm of domestic space. Paranoia rooted in the abject — where boundaries between the human and non-human dissolve — fuels a sprawling creepypasta unfolding over nearly 700 posts. Told in first person, this horror narrative seeps into the mundane: we spy on Spencer in the kitchen eating, in the living room working at his computer, waking up in bed, and staring into the bathroom mirror.
We follow him with bated breath through closets, under the bed, into the basement — led by lo-fi visuals, jump scares, and unsettling close-ups — through an aesthetic somewhere between the amateur horror of The Blair Witch Project (1999) and the psychological dread of P.T. (2014), the now-legendary teaser for Silent Hill. Fear takes form in the smallest, darkest corners: cracks, gaps, slivers of space where the familiar turns strange. The home becomes a haunted zone, inhabited by presences both intimate and uncanny. Alone in our apartment, the line between inner and outer worlds begins to erode, unleashing what repels and fascinates us in equal measure.
A new digital incarnation of Slender emerges: oversized eyes and mouth, a tall, slender figure, arms stretching beyond the knees, and a surreal collection of wigs shift the internet-born character into gender-fluid territory. This move towards the feminine amplifies the unease, further blurring lines, frightening and enchanting all at once.
With the solo exhibition Peekaboo, Spazio Punch brings Spencer Lackey’s artistic practice into the physical world, pushing his horror storytelling beyond the digital. The former brewery’s rooms take on a domestic, yet disturbingly intimate atmosphere. Among ordinary furnishings, the eerie moods, visuals, and projections of @spangerlookrey return to three dimensions in a multimedia installation that haunts our everyday spaces.
Peekaboo also responds to the urge to explore the edges of curatorial practice, moving beyond the mere presentation of artworks to occupy the boundary between artistic and curatorial practices. The exhibition becomes a space of co-creation, while curating itself turns into a disruptive act – an instrument for unsettling norms, sparking new imaginaries, and invoking unexpected presences.

In dialogue with the exhibition at Spazio Punch, Bookzilla hosts a selection of ero-guro and fetish art editorial materials from Caterina Dal Bianco and Christian Gravante’s Undusted Archive. Too Negative, Apocalypse Culture, S&M Sniper, and Tox are just a few of the gateways into the world of Undusted Archive.
