On Saturday, 25 November from 11AM – 9PM, SPRINT MILANO ART BOOK FAIR opens its doors to the public. The fair runs through Sunday 26 November and features over 250 publishers from 31 countries, with a particular focus on the Middle East with Cairo Art Book Fair, South Asia through Shrub and South America via Dormida Editora, accompanied by a deep program of talks, exhibitions and performances.
The rich collateral agenda includes ‘Out Of The Grid. Italian Zine 1978–2006’, the exhibition dedicated to the brand new book curated by Dafne Boggeri in collaboration with Sara Serighelli by SPRINT and Associazione O’; ‘Holding Hands In Weird Places – A reference library’ by Johanna Maierski [Colorama] & Stefanie Leinhos about their most recent publications ‘PPSS – small press publishing tools reader’ and ‘Portrait of the Artist as a Writer’; and the display of twenty titles awarded on the occasion of ‘The Most Beautiful Swiss Books’.
The billboard in the court of Spazio Maiocchi is by the Slavs and Tatars collective. While Regina Giovanna will host the fair and some sections dedicated to publishing and sound and rare editions, as well as the talk and performance series that will feature, among others: Slavs and Tatars, MP5 with Jonathan Bazzi.
Leading up to the Salon, from November 24 to December 16, the performative lecture ‘CYBERFEMINISM INDEX’ by Mindy Seu will be screened on Afterimage. The video offers a look inside the pages of the homonym editorial project and its intermedial apparatuses, mixing a performative reading of some excerpts along with methodological questions on archiving.
