A+B Contemporary Art è lieta di presentare “Bobbi”, mostra a quattro mani di Stephanie Stein e Tobias Hoffknecht, artisti che utilizzano scultura e installazione come strumenti privilegiati.
Entrambi sono impegnati nell’analisi dello spazio come realtà intangibile da decostruire, modellare e rinnovare, Tobias utilizzando oggetti comunemente riconoscibili, Stephanie con elementi che intersecano le superfici e forzano le velate relazioni degli ambienti in cui interviene.

Per “Bobbi” sarà presentato un lavoro inedito eseguito a quattro mani, frutto della convergenza delle due ricerche artistiche. La trasformazione percettiva dello spazio espositivo avverrà attraverso la totale trasparenza di una imponente scultura a muro in materiale plastico.

Le installazioni di Stephanie Stein sono finemente minimaliste. L’artista infatti organizza e co-ordina le sue opere in rapporto ai parametri di spazio, luce e ombra, ma anche di dimensione e movimento, creando una radicale alterazione dello spazio coinvolto.
I suoi lavori vengono ad assumere la definizione di interspazi, studiati ed alterati attraverso composizioni in legno o corda. Il fine ultimo di queste linee impalpabili e quasi sospese è quello di aprire spazi d’indeterminazione e di creare una rottura fra ciò che c’è di determinato in quel luogo; non è lo spazio in quanto materia il punto focale dello studio, ma, al contrario, la sua componente immateriale.

Con il posizionamento di oggetti quotidiani ridotti a forme minimaliste, Tobias Hoffknecht cerca di irrompere nello spazio, trasformandolo, dividendolo, usurpandolo; il risultato del connubio scultura-installazione si realizza così come rinnovamento reciproco con le superfici innescando così nello spettatore un processo che vede in primis la categorizzazione dell’elemento e in seguito il rimando a riferimenti quotidiani e collettivi, talvolta evocati dal titolo stesso dell’opera.
Le sue sculture in acciaio o PVC vogliono riassumere in sé il contrasto tra la rigidità/austerità e la freddezza dell’oggetto con l’idea che ne sta a monte, per un continuo confrontarsi e scontrarsi.

Stephanie Stein (Kiel, 1972) vive e lavora a Colonia. Diplomata presso la Kunstakademie di Düsseldorf con Rosemarie Trockel dopo aver frequentato la Gerrit Rietveld Akademie di Amsterdam e la Cooper Union for the Advanced Science and Art a New York.
Fra il 2011 e il 2014 le viene assegnato lo studio presso la Imhoff-Stiftung und Kӧlnischer Kunstverein di Colonia.

Tobias Hoffknecht (Bochum, 1987) vive e lavora a Colonia. Nel 2013 ha terminato gli studi presso l’Accademia di Arte a Düsseldorf nella classe di Rosemarie Trockel.

A+B Contemporary Art is delighted to present “Bobbi”, an exhibition by Stephanie Stein and Tobias Hoffknecht, two artists who mainly use sculpture and installation.
Both analyze space like an intangible reality to deconstruct, shape and renew reality, Tobias using commonly known objects, Stephanie creating elements that cross surfaces and wrench the veiled relationships of the environments of her works.

Bobbi features a new work created by the merging of the two different researches of the artists. The exhibition space will be transformed thanks to a total transparency of a majestic sculpture.

Stephanie Stein’s installations are delicately minimalist. The artist organizes and coordinates her works not considering only space, light and shadows but also dimensions and movement, creating an alteration of the space.
Stephanie’s works become interspaces, planned and modified with wood and cord compositions. The aim of these impalpable and almost suspended lines is to open spaces for indetermination and to cause a rift in what is determined in that location; the focus is not on space as matter but on its intangible feature.

Placing commonly used objects reduced to their minimalist shapes, Tobias Hoffknecht tries to burst into space transforming it, dividing it, seizing it; the bond between sculpture and installation becomes a mutual renewal with the surfaces and causes a process in the viewer, who first can recognize the element and can then see the references to daily life, that are sometimes recalled in the name of the artwork.
These steel and PVC sculptures try to summarize the contrast between the object’s stiffness/austerity and coldness and the original idea, creating a continuous comparison and crash.

Stephanie Stein (Kiel, 1972) lives and works in Cologne. She graduated at the Kunstakademie in Düsseldorf with Rosemarie Trockel. She also studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Akademie in Amsterdam and the Cooper Union for the Advanced Science and Art in New York. She has been awarded a studio at the Imhoff-Stiftung und Kölnischer Kunstevrein in Cologne between 2011 and 2014.
