Synchrodogs – Naturally occurring

Naturally occurring, primo solo show in Italia, combina due serie fotografiche recenti – Reverie sleep e Animalism, Naturalism – focalizzate, rispettivamente, sulla dimensione del sogno e sulla relazione con l’universo naturale.

Synchrodogs è un duo artistico fotografico formato da Tania Shcheglova (Ucraina, 1989) e Roman Noven (Russia, 1984) attivo dal 2008 e attualmente di stanza a Lutsk.
Le loro immagini sono state presentate in mostre personali e collettive a Londra, Los Angeles, New York, Mosca, Melbourne, Parigi e in riviste internazionali come Harper's Bazaar, Vice, L'Imparfaite, The British Journal of Photography.
Accanto alla ricerca artistica e alle numerose collaborazioni con brand e stilisti (Masha Reva, Kenzo, Sheriff & Cherry), Synchrodogs è impegnato in ambito sociale e politico. Oltre ad alcuni lavori commissionati come la serie sulle attiviste Femen per Dazed & Confused, la coppia ha denunciato aspramente, attraverso i canali web e social network, le condizioni attuali del proprio paese, all'alba della rivolta sfociata a Novembre.

Naturally occurring, primo solo show in Italia, combina due serie fotografiche recenti – Reverie sleep e Animalism, Naturalism – focalizzate, rispettivamente, sulla dimensione del sogno e sulla relazione con l'universo naturale. In entrambi i progetti il set è un paesaggio incontaminato mentre il soggetto ritratto, rigorosamente femminile e di frequente Tania stessa, tenta di mimetizzarsi o astrarsi grazie ad ascamotage artificiali: tute attillate, applicazioni sulla pelle nuda, polveri colorate.
In occasione della personale Spazio Punch ospita una selezione di libri di Éditions du LIC, casa editrice indipendente fondata dal collettivo scandinavo lifeiscarbon e specializzata in pubblicazioni fotografiche. Tra le altre, Byzantine, libro d'artista di Synchrodogs prodotto in edizione limitata e numerata di 460 copie.

Synchrodogs is an art/photography duo comprising Tania Shcheglova (Ukraine, 1989) and Roman Noven (Russia, 1984), active since 2008 and currently based in Lutsk.
Their images have been presented in solo and collective exhibitions in London, Los Angeles, New York, Moscow, Melbourne, Paris and have appeared in international magazines such as Harper's Bazaar, Vice, L'Imparfaite, The British Journal of Photography.
Beyond their artistic research and numerous collaborations with brands and fashion designers (Masha Reva, Kenzo, Sheriff & Cherry), Synchrodogs are socially and politically committed. The duo has spoken out on web and social networks against the present condition of their home-country, at the beginning of November riot through a series of commissioned artworks, such the series on FEMEN activists for Dazeed & Confused.

Naturally occurring, their first solo show in Italy, combines their two recent photographic series – Reverie sleep e Animalism, Naturalism – whose main focus is the dimension of dream and the relationship with natural world respectively. In both art projects the location is an uncontaminated landscape, while the subject – rigorously feminine and often Tania herself – tries to hide or draws apart thanks to artificial tricks: tight overalls, layers over bare skin, colourful dust.
In occasion of their solo show, Spazio Punch hosts a selection of books by Éditions du LIC, an independent publishing house founded by the Swedish art collective lifeiscarbon and specialized in photography publications. Among the others, Byzantine, artist book by Synchrodogs, limited to 460 numbered copies.
