After last year's edition, the Ulìa Art Project is renewed, with a rich calendar of events that crosses the countryside between Ostuni and Fasano for a weekend dedicated to contemporary art.
From 19 to 21 July, the series of interventions involving Italian and international artists called to work within traditional Apulian architectures will be inaugurated: a masseria, a farmhouse, a house/trail, a contrada church and a palace in the historic centre are the places that will frame the interventions of the selected artists.
The opening weekend will start on 19 July at 6 pm with the opening of the exhibition Rehab, a solo show by Davide Sgambaro, realised following a residency in the Valle d'Itria during the winter months. The artist has stayed several times in the building that will host his interventions, some site-specific works and an impromptu work that will come to life on the day of the opening of Trullo Ulìa, a symbolic place from which everything started and to which everything returns.At 7.30 p.m., a few minutes' drive away, Marco Andrea Magni's Family Slang will be inaugurated in the spaces of Casale Madre, an installation that scatters the rooms with subtle details, small architectural grafts of the different environments, counterpoints of an intimate discourse that takes place between those walls.
The following day, in the immediate vicinity of Trullo Ulìa in contrada Piatone, the ancient farmhouse that will soon host the renovated Masseria Mastro Antonio, will host the exhibition La Terra Muta (The Mute Land) on Saturday 20 July at 6.30 p.m., a group show combining works by different artists, Bora Baboci, Francesco Carone, João Freitas, Enej Gala, Mirthe Klück, Albano Hernandez, Mehdi-Georges Lahlou, Leonardo Meoni, Giovanni Oberti, Oscar Abraham Pabòn, Eugenia Vanni, Ambra Viviani, Xiao Zhiyu, that will be articulated in the functional vocation of the building, a centre for the collection and distribution of the resources produced, the expression of a territory and a human adaptation to it. Adjacent to this complex, the contrada's small church will be the theatre for Giovanni Oberti Extra|Intra's intervention, which will restore a celestial vault to the very human votive architecture. The weekend will then end on Sunday 21 July, at 10 a.m. for breakfast in Largo Seggio in Fasano, where Remo Salvadori's work Nel Momento will be installed on the main façade of Palazzo d'Urso overlooking the town's intimate little square; a sublime synthesis of the energy of the material, the form of thought and the substance understood as the present dimension, Nel Momento.
After this weekend, the interventions will be visible by appointment until 7 September.
The project, conceived by Trullo Ulìa, Galleria FuoriCampo and The Art Syn and supported in part by the Municipality of Ostuni and the Municipality of Fasano, was born with the idea of promoting the values and identity of this land by using the eyes of the artists who collaborated with local artisans and craftsmen to create the works and set up the exhibition, in order to build a more authentic bond with the territory by feeding a virtuous circle that creates beauty and value.

Dopo l'edizione dello scorso anno, si rinnova l'appuntamento di Ulìa Art Project, con un ricco calendario di eventi che attraversa la campagna tra Ostuni e Fasano per un fine settimana dedicato all'arte contemporanea. Dal 19 al 21 luglio sarà inaugurata la serie di interventi che hanno coinvolto artisti italiani ed internazionali chiamati ad operare all’interno di architetture tradizionali pugliesi: una masseria, un casale, una casa/trullo, una chiesetta di contrada e un palazzo del centro storico, sono i luoghi che faranno da cornice agli interventi degli artisti selezionati.
Il programma delle inaugurazioni prenderà avvio il 19 luglio alle 18 con l'apertura della mostra Rehab, personale di Davide Sgambaro realizzata a seguito di una residenza compiuta in Valle d'Itria nei mesi invernali. L'artista ha soggiornato a più riprese nello spazio che ospiterà i suoi interventi, alcune opere site-specific ed un lavoro estemporaneo che prenderà vita il giorno dell'apertura di Trullo Ulìa, luogo simbolo da cui tutto è partito e a cui tutto ritorna.
Alle 19.30, a pochi minuti di strada, verrà inaugurata Family Slang di Marco Andrea Magni negli spazi di Casale Madre, un allestimento che dissemina gli ambienti di dettagli sottili, piccoli innesti architettonici dei diversi ambienti, contrappunti di un discorso intimo che si svolge tra quelle pareti.
Il giorno seguente, nelle immediate vicinanze del Trullo Ulìa in contrada Piatone, l’antica masseria che presto ospiterà la rinnovata Masseria Mastro Antonio, accoglierà, prima dei suoi lavori di ristrutturazione, sabato 20 luglio alle 18,30 la mostra La Terra Muta, una collettiva che unisce opere degli artisti Bora Baboci, Francesco Carone, João Freitas, Enej Gala, Mirthe Klück, Albano Hernandez, Mehdi-Georges Lahlou, Leonardo Meoni, Giovanni Oberti, Oscar Abraham Pabòn, Eugenia Vanni, Ambra Viviani, Xiao Zhiyu e che si articola nella funzionale vocazione dell'edificio, centro di raccolta e distribuzione delle risorse prodotte, espressione di un territorio e di un umano adattamento ad esso. Adiacente a questo plesso, la piccola chiesa della contrada sarà teatro dell’intervento di Giovanni Oberti Extra|Intra che restituirà una volta celeste all'umanissima architettura votiva contemporaneamente visibile.
Il weekend si chiuderà poi domenica 21 luglio, alle ore 10 per la colazione in Largo Seggio a Fasano dove sarà installata l'opera Nel Momento di Remo Salvadori sulla facciata principale di Palazzo d'Urso che si affaccia sull’intima piazzetta della cittadina; una sintesi sublime dell'energia del materiale, la forma del pensiero e la sostanza intesa come dimensione presente, nel momento.
Dopo questo fine settimana di inaugurazioni gli interventi saranno visibili su appuntamento fino al 7 settembre su appuntamento.
Il progetto, ideato da Trullo Ulìa, Galleria FuoriCampo e The Art Syn e sostenuto in parte dal Comune di Ostuni e dal Comune di Fasano, nasce con l’idea di promuovere i valori e l’identita’ di questa terra avvalendosi dello sguardo degli artisti che hanno collaborato con artigiani e maestranze locali per la realizzazione delle opere e l’allestimento della mostra, per costruire un legame più autentico con il territorio alimentando un circolo virtuoso che crea bellezza e valore.
