Comunicato stampa

Primo Marella Gallery is pleased to present the exhibition UNUSUAL MATERIALS AND FORMS FOR A NEW AESTHETIC, which aims to highlight a careful selection of contemporary artists from Africa whose practice is characterized by the use of peculiar materials that go beyond from the canonical forms and limits of the “artwork”.
In this unique exhibition, we embark on a journey through different and dynamic worlds — the worlds of Samuel Nnorom, Ifeoma U. Anyaeji, Troy Makaza, Moffat Takadiwa, Abdoulaye Konaté, and Joël Andrianomearisoa.
This group show aspire to celebrate the artistic creativity of selected contemporary artists from African Continent who subvert the limits of the canvas and push the boundaries of traditional aesthetics, inviting the viewer to explore uncharted territories of creativity. Each artist brings a distinctive voice to this collective narrative, challenging preconceived notions and redefining the language of contemporary art. The exhibition explores the intersection between tradition and modernity, sustainability and creativity, and the dialogue between form and materiality. What makes this exhibition unique is its particular focus on material: each artist not only challenges conventional artistic notions but also revolutionizes the approach to the matter itself.
"Unusual Materials and Forms for a New Aesthetics" is an invitation to witness the evolution of contemporary expression and the unrestrained creativity of African artists that the Gallery has discovered and accompanied over the years through decades of research and study, highlighting the innovative trends of true contemporary art. We extend our gratitude to these visionaries for sharing their unique perspectives, and we invite you to be part of this revolutionary moment in the art world. "Unusual Materials and Forms" is not just an exhibition; it is an immersive experience at the forefront of artistic innovation.
