UNA è lieta di presentare It's 2 a.m. I am spilling it, mostra personale di Vasilis Papageorgiou (*1991, Atene).
Per questo progetto Vasilis prosegue la sua ricerca sui luoghi di aggregazione e di svago - il bar, lo stadio, l’officina per il tuning di auto - intesi come culla della sottocultura urbana e resistenza alla iper-produzione nella nostra era.
L'artista crea un'installazione site specific appositamente per lo spazio di UNA, che evoca l'atmosfera di un bar attraverso la sua decostruzione: una serie di poggiapiedi in ferro e gocce di marmo sul pavimento sono tracce di una situazione preesistente, nella quale tutti e nessuno si possono ritrovare.
Il gioco, il momento dell'ozio per eccellenza, è celebrato attraverso una serie di carte in marmo, che alludono ai punti del poker ed evocano momenti di gloria, di entusiastica vittoria o di mesta disfatta.
Il valore - del nostro tempo, delle nostre azioni, del denaro, ma anche dell'arte e delle opere - è un tema centrale nella ricerca artistica di Papageorgiou e diventa uno dei focus della sua personale a UNA.
Come suggerito dal titolo, It’s 2:00 am. I am spilling it è anche un'allusione a momenti e ipotetici personaggi sospesi nel tempo, che richiedono il coinvolgimento dello spettatore, attraverso i suoi ricordi, l'inconscio, lo stupore e la sorpresa.
In occasione della partecipazione a Miart 2019 (4 - 7 Aprile) nella sezione Emergent, UNA presenterà un solo booth di Vasilis Papageorgiou.

UNA is delighted to present It's 2 a.m. I am spilling it, a solo show by Vasilis Papageorgiou (*1991, Athens).
For this project, Vasilis continues his on-going research around gathering places and leisure – the bar, the stadium, the car tuning workshop – intended as cradles of subculture and resistance against the hyper-productivity of our post-capitalist era.
The artist has created a site-specific installation, especially conceived for the space of UNA, in which the atmosphere of a bar is evoked through its deconstruction: a series of steel footrests and marble leaks lying on the ground recall a previously existing situation, which implies the imagination of the viewer to be fulfilled. The game – the moment of idleness par excellence – is celebrated through giant marble cards, displaying different combination of poker, which evoke moments of glory and of an enthusiastic victory as well as moments of defeat and discomfort.
Issues of value – of our time, of our actions, of money, and also of art and artworks – are central in Papageorgiou's artistic research and become major aspects of his presentation at UNA.
As suggested by its title, It’s 2:00 am. I am spilling it is also an allusion to moments suspended in time and possible characters which come to play, always triggering the viewer's active reflection, through memories, unconscious, wonder and surprise.
