Per utilizzare una bellissima espressione di Bergson, l’immagine della nostra percezione, come l’immagine video, nasce dalla “polvere visuale” (visual Powder).
È allo scoperto di questa sinestesia che tredici giovani video artisti hanno indagato i limiti del pensare l’immagine, sia nell’assunto più puro delle possibilità che essa ancora offre, che nella sua smobilitazione più totale. L’affermazione di Gruzinski, secondo cui “l'immagine anticipa nel campo della percezione evoluzioni che non hanno ancora dato luogo a elaborazioni concettuali o dialettiche”, fa del video il luogo privilegiato di questa indagine, nel quale riversare l’immaginario di un realissimo surrealismo nato da una realtà assolutamente imprendibile e paradossale, e dalla quale non siamo più in grado di distinguerci: il video, per le nuove generazioni, è una protesi che viene messa avanti ad aprire la strada ad ipotesi inedite e incontrollabili, ricche di stratificazioni temporali e visuali, che in un presente di profonda crisi identitaria trova conferma l’affermazione di Guattari secondo la quale l’arte non deve “solo raccontare delle storie, ma creare dei dispositivi in cui la storia possa farsi”.
The image of our perception, to use a beautiful expression of Bergson, as the video image, is born from the "visual dust " (visual Powder).
It is on the basis of this topic (synesthesia), that thirteen young video artists have been exploring the limits of ‘thinking the picture’; on one side they approached the purest assumption among the possibilities offered by this theme, on the other hand its most total demobilization. Following Gruzinski's opinion, “the image anticipates some evolutions in the field of perception, that haven’t, however, brought to conceptual or dialectic considerations”. This statement turns the video as medium into a privileged framework of investigation, that can be filled by the imagination of a most real surrealism, grown out of a very elusive and paradoxical reality. From this actuality we are no longer able to distinguish ourselves. For the youngest generation the video is a sort of prosthesis, a medium able to open brand new and uncontrolled hypothesis, rich of temporal and visual stratification. Our society, marked by a deep lack of identity, confirms Guattari's statement: “art doesn’t have to tell stories only, but its inputs can help history to make itself”.
