La performance del giovane artista Thomas De Falco al Maxxi
La parte “dinner” si traduceva in una cena ispirata al Giappone pensata appositamente dallo chef stellato Moreno Cedroni, famoso per la sua interpretazione del sushi in stile mediterraneo, con anche un piatto speciale dedicato a Murakami, gustato con i vini Marchesi Antinori. Nell’atmosfera creata dalle lampade-scultura della collezione IN EI disegnate da Issey Miyake per Artemide. Questo prevedeva l’Acquisition Gala Dinner del Maxxi, che la sera di lunedì 7 novembre ha richiamato a Roma – nella Sala Gian Ferrari del museo – oltre 500 persone per l’evento annuale di fundraising quest’anno dedicato al Giappone in occasione dell’anteprima della mostra The Japanese House. Una serata di fundraising il cui ricavato viene destinato ad arricchire la collezione pubblica del museo, con il 10% del ricavo devoluto al restauro del patrimonio culturale delle zone colpite dal terremoto. Un modello americano che il Maxxi, forse unico museo in Italia, cerca di mutuare con successo. Tantissimi i vip presenti, da quelli istituzionali – con il Ministro Dario Franceschini e gli ambasciatori di UK, Francia, Usa, Giappone in Italia – ai tanti del mondo dell’arte, la direttrice del Barbican Centre di Londra Jane Alison, il Direttore di Japan Foundation Atsuko Sato, gli artisti Elisabetta Benassi, Luigi Ontani, Piero Golia, Pietro Ruffo, Maurizio Mochetti, Alfredo Pirri, i critici Achille Bonito Oliva e Laura Cherubini, il Direttore dell’ Accademia Americana Peter Benson Miller, la direttrice di Galleria Borghese Anna Coliva, le Direttrici della Galleria Nazionale Cristiana Collu e di Palazzo Barberini Flaminia Gennari, Francesco Manacorda Direttore Tate Liverpool.
SCULTURE VIVENTI
Ad accogliere gli ospiti anche la performance del giovane artista Thomas De Falco, ambientata tra sculture viventi che evocavano un bosco di aceri giapponesi dalle radici avvolgenti, realizzata in collaborazione con il Romaeuropa Festival e appositamente ideata per gli spazi del Maxxi. Cinque quadri distinti distribuiti tra la hall d’ingresso e la sala Gian Ferrari: performer sono posizionati in differenti gruppi collegati tra loro da filamenti di wrapping di seta e cotone come enormi radici di colore bianco con un particolare rosso, segno distintivo dell’artista. “L’albero è, in tutta la storia dell’arte, un elemento a forte carica simbolica”, ha commentato la curatrice di Laura Cherubini: “ha radici nella terra, un fusto eretto come una colonna e rami che si prolungano verso l’alto e tendono al cielo. In questo caso l’artista evidenzia l’analogia tra l’albero e la casa, anche in rapporto al tema dell’abitare sviluppato nella mostra sull’architettura giapponese presente nel museo”.
